With the recent installation of a new state of the art tennis bubble over our four outdoor courts, Richmond Country Club now offers its members eight year round courts to play recreationally, in one of our many leagues or to upgrade their skills with one of our tennis professionals.

RCC caters to adult and juniors alike and offers each recreational and high performance programs and training. RCC offers its members high quality facilities and amenities and superior year round access.

About Our Program

RCC Tennis Academy is open to all ages from junior to senior and from beginner to high performance, members and nonmembers alike. It's coaches have an abundance of experience coaching and competing in collegiate and professional tennis. Most importantly, they are certified at the highest level of coaching in Canada.

We have recruited and trained the optimal team of coaches to specialize in the specific needs of each level of player. We believe that a proper atmosphere is vital to one’s training, this includes a world class facility, dynamic qualified coaching staff and a wide range of athletes to compete with both stronger and weaker for proper development.

RCC tennis follows its own systematic stream approach and plan to guide each player to accomplish their tennis goals. We have trained many top provincial, national and international level juniors and adults. Our aim is to provide the opportunity for each individual to reach their goals whether it is to obtain a US collegiate scholarship or to make a career in professional tennis. We believe by creating this environment it fosters our core values of respect, hard work, dedication, accountability and belief, in all of our programs.

Junior Tennis Program

Richmond Country Club has proven to have one of the best junior tennis programs in the lower mainland. Our club offers a variety of different program tennis lessons, group lessons and private lessons. RCC is recognized as a TDC (Tennis Destination Centre) by Tennis Canada and strives for excellence in programs. The tennis program is streamed in to two different categories: 1. Recreational stream 2. Competitive Stream. Non-member guests of the club are welcome to register for any one of our tennis programs.

RCC Junior Tennis Programs

Progressive

Red Ball Program (4-5yrs) (4:1 Coach to Student Ratio)

This group is for players aged 4-5 years old who will be introduced to basic development skills like coordination, hand-eye, physical movements and racquet skills. The development of these skills sets a platform for these young individuals’ future success. One of our other main goals in this class is to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere to help gain an interest in tennis and plant a seed for the future.

Orange Ball Program / Orange Ball Advanced (6-9yrs) (4:1 Coach to Student Ratio)

 

This group is for players aged 6-9 years old and who are starting to learn and develop the skills needed to perform at an adequate level. Orange felt compression balls are used to make it easier for juniors at this age not only to make contact with the ball more frequently but also in time, rally balls to make tennis enjoyable. Smaller courts are also used to help facilitate relative dimensions to help their progression.

Green Dot Ball Program (8-10 yrs) (4:1 Coach to Student Ratio)

 

This group is for players who have just transitioned from our Performance Orange Court Group. Athletes within this group are transitioning to a full court with a slightly lower compression ball to enhance their skills. The main focus within this group is to improve tactics and consistency and give technical feedback in the process. Players within this group should be playing in Tennis BC U10 Future Stars events.

Development / Competitive

Teen Tennis
 

This group mainly targets teens who are interested in advancing their tennis game in a fun but focused atmosphere. Coaches in this group will be teaching a lot of technical and tactical work so that they can advance each athlete’s knowledge of the game and hopefully put them in a position to play the game correctly. If you are looking to possibly play school tennis or just learn the fundamentals of tennis, this group is for you.

Development / Competitive

‘Tween Tennis 9+ (4:1 Coach to Student Ratio)

This group is for juniors from ages 9-12 yrs old who are either just being introduced to the game of tennis or are looking to improve their skills at a developmental or emerging competitive level. The main goal of this group is to emphasize a fun atmosphere and enjoyment of the game through fun game based learning. Our hope is that we can gain more interest in tennis for those participating in “Tween” Tennis. This is a good avenue for juniors who are looking to play high school tennis in a few years’ time.

Teen Tennis 12+ (4:1 Coach to Student Ratio)

 

This group mainly targets teens who are interested in advancing their tennis game in a fun but focused atmosphere. Coaches in this group will be teaching a lot of technical and tactical work so that they can improve each athlete’s knowledge of the game and hopefully put them in a position to play the game correctly. If you are looking to possibly play school tennis or just learn the fundamentals of tennis, this group is for you.

High Performance 1 (16+ years of age)

This group is for serious tennis players who have the focus and desire to train, play and compete. It is required for all athletes within this group to participate in provincial, national or international level tennis events. All participants will work on situational play, focus on technical requirements, and the mental rigours of competing at a high level. All players in this group must be approved by the Director of Tennis prior to enrolling in the class.

High Performance 1 Criteria

 

  1. Minimum Age 16+ years
  2. National Level Player – Have been selected by Team BC to participate in Outdoor or Indoor Nationals.
  3. Have a minimum ranking of top 10 in BC.
  4. Have participated in our program at a minimum of 3 years.

 

High Performance 2 (11 – 15 years of age)

 

This group is for serious tennis players who have the focus and desire to train, play and compete. It is required for all athletes within this group to participate in provincial, national or international level tennis events. All participants will work on situational play, focus on technical requirements, and the mental rigours of competing at a high level. All players in this group must be approved by the Director of Tennis prior to enrolling in the class.

 

High Performance 2 Criteria

 

  1. Minimum Age 11+ years
  2. Provincial Level Player – participates in a minimum of 4 Tennis BC Tournaments a year.
  3. Have a minimum ranking of top 50 in BC.
  4. Have participated in our program at a minimum of 3 years.

 

Futures 10+ (4:1 Coach to Student Ratio)

 

This group is for young aspiring tennis players who are looking to continue training the technical, tactical, physical, mental and emotional components of the game. The main goal of this group is to emphasize and continue to mold each athlete’s basic fundamentals and set them up for a positive future in tennis. Successful Futures participants eventually filter into our High Performance groups when they reach the appropriate age or level. All players in this group should be participating in Tennis BC Champs and Developmental tennis events.

RCC Summer Tennis Camps: All summer tennis camps runs on a week to week basis throughout the summer months.

RCC Spring Break Tennis Camps: Our spring break tennis camps run on a week to week basis. Once you choose the program of your liking, you can choose as many days you would like to participate in.

*All programs that do not meet the minimum requirement of 2 participants will be cancelled.

Richmond Country Club hosts 2 sanctioned Tennis BC Future Stars events. These tournaments are for boys and girls 10 years of age and younger. To register and for more information, please visit www.tennisbc.org. All participants should refer to their respective coaches to see if Future Stars tournament are suitable for your child.
Private Lessons and Private Group Lessons are available anytime throughout the calendar year. All members receive priority over lesson times. All non-member guests are welcome to take lessons at RCC. To set up a lesson with anyone of our tennis professionals, please contact Tennis Director, Henry Choi e: hchoi@richmondcc.ca or 604-241-3709.

RCC Adult Tennis Programs

Our beginner group lessons are great for those who want to learn and improve the basic fundamentals of tennis. Our instructors will teach the basic starting points to help you learn how to self-rally and cooperative rally and in doing so, teaching you basic technical skills along the way. All members and non-member guests of the club are welcome to register for any one of our classes.
Intermediate group lesson are for those who are able to play at a social to competitive level. These lessons are geared towards those who are looking to improve their technical, tactical, physical, mental and emotional skills on the tennis court. All members and non-member guests of the club are welcome to register for any one of our classes.
Private Lessons and Private Group Lessons are available anytime throughout the calendar year. All members receive priority over lesson times. All non-member guests are welcome to take lessons at RCC. To set up a lesson with anyone of our tennis professionals, please contact Tennis Director,  Henry Choi e: hchoi@richmondcc.ca or 604-241-3709.

Dress Code

 

Proper tennis attire is MANDATORY and must be worn by all members and guests at all times while using the tennis courts; NON-MARKING SHOES ONLY.

Proper tennis shorts, skirts, dresses and leggings/tights Leggings/tights must be accompanied with a skirt or shorts. No denim, Bermuda, walking, surfing, cargo, or basketball shorts allowed. No jerseys or logos other than tennis logos are permitted.

To avoid unnecessary embarrassment to all concerned, please be considerate of your fellow members by dressing appropriately. Members are responsible for their guests’ attire. Please inform your guests regarding the dress code prior to play.

These rules will be strictly enforced by the RCC Racquet Centre Staff.
